Have you been waiting for the PM Kisan installment to hit your account? If yes, there’s some good news for you. The government has just released the 21st installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Yojana, and thousands of farmers across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have already received the money. PM Kisan 21st Installment Released Punjab Himachal And Uttarakhand
For many, this support has come at the right time. Recent floods and landslides left countless farmers in these states struggling with damaged crops and lost income. This early release of funds feels less like a government scheme and more like a lifeline.
What’s new with this PM Kisan installment?
On Friday, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that more than ₹540 crore has been transferred directly into the bank accounts of over 27 lakh farmers. Out of these, nearly 2.7 lakh are women farmers, proving once again how crucial this scheme is in supporting families.
Here’s a quick breakdown of how the money was distributed:
- Himachal Pradesh: 8,01,045 farmers received ₹160.21 crore
- Punjab: 11,09,895 farmers received ₹221.98 crore
- Uttarakhand: 7,89,128 farmers received ₹157.83 crore
Each farmer received ₹2,000 under this installment. It may sound like a small amount, but for many, it’s the difference between buying seeds for the next crop or not.
What exactly is the PM Kisan Scheme?
If you’re new to this, here’s the simple picture:
- Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, eligible farmers get ₹6,000 every year.
- This is divided into three installments of ₹2,000 each, paid every four months.
- The money goes directly to the farmer’s bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
This way, farmers always have some financial support at regular intervals to meet daily needs, buy seeds, fertilizers, or simply keep their households running.
Who can get the benefit?
Not everyone qualifies. To be eligible, you must:
- Be an Indian farmer with cultivable land in your name.
- Have your Aadhaar linked with your bank account.
- Complete the eKYC process on the PM-Kisan portal.
But keep in mind—income tax-paying farmers, pensioners, and government/PSU employees are not eligible under this scheme.
Why this installment matters right now
Farmers in these states are still recovering from the impact of heavy rains and natural disasters. Fields have been washed away, crops destroyed, and incomes halted. In such times, even ₹2,000 feels like timely relief.
One farmer from Himachal shared that with this money, he can at least buy seeds and fertilizer for the next sowing season. Another from Punjab said it will help him cover household essentials until the next harvest.
